This Mexican opal is extraordinary. The pale pink matrix holds pockets of white, blue and green opal that seem to glow and sparkle from inside the stone.

I gave this one a hand-cut serrated bezel so as much of the opal as possible remains visible, then paired it with a chain that mixes handmade links and subtle asymmetry. The setting and chain have plenty of character, but the stone is still unquestionably the star.
